Lymphedema Therapist

Location: Milford, CT

Milford Vascular Institute is looking for a Full-Time Licensed Lymphedema Therapist. The position requires the therapist to ensure positive patient outcomes that are provided in a fiscally responsible manner.

Job Summary: 

  • Responsible for administering and directing appropriate lymphedema evaluation and treatment as prescribed by a qualified physician.
  • Responsible for effective communication and accurate documentation.
  • Displays professional behavior in accordance with Milford Vascular Institute’s Mission and Vision Statement.
  • Meets mandatory requirements to keep all license/certifications active.

Education:

  • Must have current lymphedema certification or willingness to work towards certification.
  • Background may include physical therapy, occupational therapy, nursing, or similar degree in health sciences.

Licensure/Certification: 

  • Licensed as PT, OT or RN in state of CT
  • Lymphedema experience or will work toward Lymph Certification

Physical/Mental Requirements:

  • Maneuver patients of varying weights and sizes, ability to assist with transfer and other mobility activities. Maneuvering patients may also include performing more difficult physical patient activities in cooperation with other staff or utilizing transfer/therapy equipment.
  • Provide treatments such as manual lymph drainage and compression therapy, patient education, exercises and skin care.
  • Walk, sit and/or stand for prolonged periods such as during patient treatment.

Summary/Objectives:
Registered Vascular Technologist must be able to perform vascular ultrasound examinations of patient’s extremities while maintaining efficient work flow and providing excellent service.

Essential Functions:

  1.  Adheres to the Water’s Edge Mission Statement, Credo and Service Goals and Values providing exceptional customer service at all times.
  2.  Perform vascular ultrasounds, venous mapping ultrasounds and lower extremity arterial ultrasounds.
  3.  Set up and clean up ultrasound rooms before and after each patient.
  4.  Flexibility and adaptability as it relates to schedules, responsibilities and priorities. Candidates must be willing to travel to various offices.
  5.  Works in a team environment, maintaining professional relationships with patients, providers, supervisors and administrators

Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no supervisory responsibility.

Work Environment:
This job operates in a healthcare setting.  This role requires regular walking to various locations around the practice. This role also routinely comes into contact with patients and coworkers who may have contagious illnesses.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 20 pounds.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
Full time position in a healthcare facility which is open during business hours Monday through Friday, 52 weeks per year.  On time and regular attendance including work during inclement weather will be required. This position may also require over time hours to be worked as needed to accommodate patients’ schedules.

Travel:
Travel between Water’s Edge practice locations is expected for this position.

Education:
