About Advocacy

AVLS advocates for patients, physicians, and allied healthcare professionals involved in venous and lymphatic care. Working with our members and partner organizations, we help advance policies, standards, and educational initiatives that support high-quality patient care and professional practice.

Our advocacy efforts focus on:

  • Improving patient access to evidence-based venous and lymphatic care
  • Supporting appropriate coverage and reimbursement for medically necessary treatments
  • Representing the interests of venous and lymphatic specialists within organized medicine
  • Promoting high standards in education, certification, and clinical practice
  • Collaborating with national organizations to strengthen awareness of venous and lymphatic disease

Through our longstanding involvement with organizations such as the American Medical Association (AMA), American Osteopathic Association (AOA), and American Board of Venous & Lymphatic Medicine (ABVLM), AVLS helps ensure that venous and lymphatic medicine has a voice in important discussions affecting patient care, physician education, quality initiatives, coding, and reimbursement.
