Patient Advocacy Standing Committee

Statement of Purpose:
The Patient Advocacy Standing Committee is responsible for the guidance and oversight of advisory committees that create, provide, and/or maintain awareness activities on behalf of the organization. The Patient Advocacy Standing Committee is required to provide clear and concise directions to those advisory committees assigned to them regarding any initiatives or projects that are pursued by the Board of Directors or activities detailed within the Awareness goal within the AVLS’ 2016-2019 Strategic Plan.

Public Awareness Committee

Statement of Purpose:
The purpose of the Public Awareness Committee is to develop programs, materials, and communications which increase awareness of the causes, diagnosis, and treatment of venous disease among the general public. The committee will engage potential patients to improve understanding of their condition and seek treatment from an AVLS member physician.

Physician Awareness Committee

Statement of Purpose:
The purpose of the Physician Awareness Committee is to develop programs, materials, and communications which increase awareness of the causes, diagnosis, and treatment of venous disease among the medical community. The committee will engage physicians and allied health providers to improve understanding of the signs and symptoms of venous disease and how to seek a qualified AVLS physician for referral.

Patient Safety and Ethics Committee

Statement of Purpose:
The purpose of the Patient Safety and Ethics Committee is to improve patient outcomes through the promotion of ethical practices in vein care. The committee shall review and define ethical practices, as well as provide guidance for members.
