Rebuilding AVLS:
Frequently Asked Questions

What Happened?

AVLS has completed a financial reorganization and is actively rebuilding programs, services, and member engagement. While the process has been challenging, the Society remains committed to its mission of advancing venous and lymphatic medicine through education, advocacy, research, and professional collaboration.

Where Are We Now?

Committees, volunteers, staff, and leadership are actively working to restore educational offerings, strengthen advocacy efforts, rebuild research initiatives, and ensure the long-term stability of the Society. A conservative operating budget has been established for 2026, and membership renewals are an important part of supporting AVLS's future growth. Members can follow progress through regular communications and the Transparency Center.

What Is Available Today?

AVLS continues to provide resources and opportunities for members while rebuilding and expanding programs. Current and developing resources include:

  • Educational content and online learning resources
  • CME and non-CME educational activities
  • Advocacy efforts supporting venous and lymphatic medicine
  • Collaboration with partner organizations and specialty societies
  • Professional networking opportunities
  • Clinical resources, standards, and classification tools
  • Ongoing work to restore and expand research initiatives

As programs are restored and expanded, AVLS will continue to communicate new opportunities and resources to members.

What Are We Rebuilding?

AVLS is the only independent multidisciplinary society dedicated exclusively to venous and lymphatic medicine. Our priorities reflect the priorities of our members:

  • High-quality education
  • Effective advocacy
  • Meaningful research
  • Professional collaboration
  • Support for clinicians across multiple specialties and disciplines

Our goal is not simply to restore programs, but to build a stronger and more sustainable organization that serves members and advances patient care.

Why Should I Stay Involved?

AVLS provides a professional home focused exclusively on venous and lymphatic medicine. The multidisciplinary nature of the Society brings together physicians, advanced practice providers, vascular technologists, nurses, lymphedema specialists, researchers, industry partners, and other professionals who share a commitment to improving patient care.

Through education, advocacy, research, clinical standards, and collaboration with partner organizations, AVLS works to support clinicians and advance the field. As the Society rebuilds, member participation will help shape its future direction and priorities.
